Dr. Sara Saeed, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sehat Kahani, joined us for an engaging session on reimagining healthcare through digital innovation. She shared her personal journey as a doctor, a working woman, and a mother, explaining how these experiences motivated her to build Sehat Kahani—a telemedicine platform designed to make healthcare more accessible and inclusive.
Dr. Sara highlighted the dual mission of Sehat Kahani: providing affordable healthcare services to underserved communities in rural and remote areas, while also empowering women doctors to re-enter the workforce by consulting patients from home. She shared compelling statistics, noting that while Pakistan has approximately 245,000 doctors—80% of whom are women—only 40% actively practice due to patriarchal social norms.
Through Sehat Kahani, women doctors can reconnect with their profession, and patients can access quality medical care from the comfort of their homes. The platform's importance grew exponentially during the COVID-19 pandemic, positioning telemedicine as a crucial healthcare solution and enabling Sehat Kahani to extend its reach to communities across the country.
Dr. Sara’s talk underscored the transformative power of technology in addressing systemic challenges and creating opportunities for more equitable healthcare.
